A Fine Bit O' Prose

5/8/13 by Skaren

Religion and Science are eerily similar in that both exist in the hopes of finding substance in the vast nothingness of space, the working difference between them being that in religion, you're attempting to escape reality, yet in science, you're attempting to define it.

Maybe if you didn't have stupid fucking niggernet that couldn't handle a fucking TF2 game that you pay for in shillings you would be able to fucking post like a civilized human being.

Well, the incontrovertible truth is, we'll find out after we die. I'd hate to think a sentient beings mind just goes *poof*, once the blood stops flowing. There's gotta be something in the human mind, that transcends our mortal 3 dimensional view of things.

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

See but there's a possibility we won't find out when we die, seeing as how if consciousness stops, we can't "find out" anything, we'll lack the capability to reason as we do now. If there were something in the human mind that transcended our current perceptions then it would be rendered irrelevant after death, unless it were undetectable by all current means. When you die your brain shuts down. Buh-bye. Then you go into a comfortable hole for the rest of eternity.

Who knows about reality? We might have brains, but are senses are so limited, it makes the discussion almost impossible, unless one of the writers of the Bible or Koran is around for some counterpoint discussion on their literary works... or if God has a pdf of reality's blueprints.
I thought I was more of a Naturalist, but I guess I fit this bill too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epistemology

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

You can't fit the bill of epistemology. It's a study. "I'm a epistemologist" would be a statement dictating that you study epistemology.

I actually dislike guns quite a bit.

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

I'm well fucking aware of that, you make all of your bottom shelf opinions well known.

If only they could work together. :/

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

They'd contradict themselves.

Kneegrow you be trippin'.

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

Has anyone ever asked you if you had a gun. You seem like the kind of weird fuck to have a gun. Mostly because of your voice.

I guess religious faith could be considered escaping reality. But we all have faith: that the roads and buildings are were we last saw them; that those scraps of green paper, actually have value.
Dunno much about philosophy, but I liek 'em both, they just need to learn to get along together.

5/9/13 Skaren responds:

You're bringing epistemology into this which is a thing that should not be done in any argument because it's never a sound argument. Also, we don't all have faith, assuming true nihilism is a thing.
